MAFS' Ella Ding's message to reality fans: 'Everyone needs to be nicer'

EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of the Love Triangle premiere, Ella Ding has spoken out about online trolling and backlash.

Ella Ding is no stranger to reality TV: Aussie audiences were first introduced to her on the 2022 season of Married at First Sight, and the now podcaster and influencer also appeared on the 2022 season of Made In Chelsea.

Now, she's back on our screens — well, kind of. Ella's behind the camera narrating the new season of Stan's Love Triangle, a project she was happy to put her voice behind and not have to be involved in the main storyline.

"It's a different role — I'm not the cast, I'm not amongst the drama or the experience. You won't be seeing me physically in the show," she told Yahoo Lifestyle. "I'm just the voice of God apparently!"

While Ella is happy to be behind the scenes this time, she had some wise words for the fans watching reality shows and getting invested in the contestants' personal lives.

'Think before you type'

"People on the media pages, or the gossip pages, they always say 'you went on the show, you chose to be trolled, basically like, you chose to get bullied'," she said.

"I think that everyone just needs to like, remember that they're also just people in an intense experience. They've never done it before most of the time, [and] you're in a controlled environment when you're making TV."

"It's really intense," Ella said of online trolling and public backlash. "Maybe they can all go and try doing it too and seeing, you know, how it goes down!"

Ella said while she understands how people get invested in reality shows and the contestants' lives, people need to 'chill'.

"Think before you type," she said. "I don't know, let's just chill! Let's just watch it, enjoy it, and that's it. [Let's] not tear people down and spread all the rumours and the lies, there's so much of it online."

Ella's advice to reality TV contestants

Ella also said she's stopped following and reading gossip pages that cover the reality shows.

"I don't see any of it, and that's also the best way to do it," she said. "If you're a cast member or if you're going on reality TV, don't follow any of the pages.

Ignorance really is bliss, and what you don't know, doesn't hurt you. Everyone just needs to be nicer. It's so mean out there."
