MAFS' Elizabeth Sobinoff breaks down over pregnancy confession: 'Failure'

The former reality TV star has been praised for showing the 'reality of pregnancy'.

Married At First Sight’s Elizabeth Sobinoff has shared an emotional post on Instagram opening up about the difficulties she’s faced during her first pregnancy with her husband Alex Varga.

The 32-year-old, who appeared on both seasons six and seven of the reality show, posted a video of herself crying to her 395,000 followers in an effort to highlight the “not so glamorous” moments of her pregnancy journey.

“I guess this is the reality of pregnancy,” she said through tears. “I had to call in sick to work and it’s like, I’m just that exhausted.

“This is the reality of some of the time with pregnancy. It’s such an exciting time, you just feel really exhausted and tired and you start to feel like a bit of a failure.

“I thought this was a good thing to put on social media to show the reality of things.”

Lizzie added in the comments that while she knows her feelings aren’t permanent, she thought it would be “cool to show these moments as well”.

“All feelings are validated, this is just an honest moment when I was in the moment,” she wrote alongside the Lifeline number - 13 11 14.

'Thank you for having the courage to share'

A number of Lizzie’s followers took to the comments to sympathise with her and applaud her for being so raw about her struggles.

“Sending all of my love through this crazy time,” fellow MAFS bride Beck Zemek wrote. “You’ll look back one day and feel silly about 99 per cent of the crazy emotions pregnancy makes you feel. But for now just ride the wave and know we all love you.”

“Oh honey. So many hormonal changes and big emotions too,” former Bachelorette star Becky Miles replied. “I feel like I struggled the most during my pregnancy - I was a wreck and like you said, it will pass. Thank you for having the courage to share - pregnancy is amazing in some but not always so glamorous.”

“Growing a human is hard work!” one fan added. “Take the day to rest and regroup. It can’t always be rainbows and butterflies. Sometimes it’s poop and that’s ok. Being real about it shows other mums that it’s ok to ride the emotions!”

“I love this. Not that you are exhausted and upset, but that you are sharing it,” another replied. “Too often Instagram is a highlights reel that warps everyone's perception of everything. This is reality. I hope you are okay.”

Lizzie responds to the backlash

However, not all of Lizzie’s comments were positive, with the former reality TV star sharing a follow-up video shortly after the original post to respond to the negativity.

“Some of the comments that came underneath that Reel said, ‘Oh you wait ‘til you’ve had the baby’,” she detailed. “Someone told me to ‘Suck it up’ because they had had a horrible experience.

“I’m just putting out a real, honest moment of how I was feeling. Someone said, ‘Some people dream of this’ and it’s like, you don’t think I dreamed of this? Like, my god!

“Just bringing some truth out there that I was having a crappy moment. I think it’s great to share that.”
