MAFS' Domenica shares heartbreaking reason behind major transformation
EXCLUSIVE: The reality star is participating in Australia’s most iconic fundraising campaign.
Former Married At First Sight bride Domenica Calarco is set to undergo a major transformation in the hopes of raising money for a cause very close to her heart.
Yahoo Lifestyle can exclusively reveal that the 30-year-old reality star is this year’s official ambassador and celebrity participant for Australia’s most iconic fundraising campaign - the World’s Greatest Shave.
Australian Hairdresser of the Year Dee Parker-Attwood, who is known for pushing the boundaries with her creative and bold styles, will shave, cut or colour Dom's hair to raise funds for blood cancer. It’s unknown what style or combination Dom will undergo as the transformation won’t be revealed until March during World’s Greatest Shave Week.
Dom tells Yahoo Lifestyle that participating in the World’s Greatest Shave is something that’s always been on her bucket list, and she decided to do it in 2024 after choosing the Leukaemia Foundation as her charity of choice on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year.
“The cherry on top was definitely being asked to be a World’s Greatest Shave Ambassador,” she shares. “It is something I am very proud of and cannot wait to spend the next few months raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation and spreading awareness for such an amazing cause.
“Having a huge platform that I am able to raise awareness for a charity so close to my heart is something I will never take for granted. The online community I have amassed after my reality TV stints continues to grow and with that I feel like I have a responsibility to raise awareness and money for something so close to my heart as blood cancer.”

Dom’s uncle Frank sadly passed away from blood cancer five years ago, which she admits was “utterly devastating” for herself and her family.
“My uncle’s story is one that starts at the age of 27 with his diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1994,” she details. “The cancer did unfortunately come back and manifested into Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinaemia, which is an incredibly rare form of blood cancer.
“Knowing that I can make a difference and contribute to the Leukaemia Foundation’s vision of zero lives lost to blood cancer makes me want to work that much harder to raise as much funds as possible.”
Ella Ding's advice for Dom
Ahead of her massive hair transformation, Dom shares that she’s been turning to her MAFS co-star and podcast co-host Ella Ding for advice.
Ella shaved her head for the World’s Greatest Shave in 2014 to support her friends who lost their parents to cancer and spent the following few years experimenting with dramatic short styles.
“As with any big physical changes of course there are some nerves, however, knowing that Ella has participated in World’s Greatest Shave before and that millions of Aussies have participated in the past, I am more excited than nervous that’s for sure!” Dom remarks.
“Ella’s advice is to embrace the change and kick ass in raising as much money as I can! I’ve set a bold fundraising target of $10,000 to support the Leukaemia Foundation’s vital work and I truly believe that every contribution, and every step we take together towards beating blood cancer, is nothing short of beautiful.”
