MAFS bride Sandy’s secret side job exposed: 'Legend'

She won over hearts as a firm favourite bride on this year’s season of Married At First Sight, after she was left heartbroken by match Dan Hujas.

And it seems Melbourne-based dental hygienist, Sandy Jawanda, had another whole legion of fans the producers failed to tell us all about, as a secret TikTok beauty influencer.

Prior to filming the reality show last year, Sandy spent two years racking up millions of views on the video platform whilst sharing everything from home eyebrow tattoo tutorials to tips on applying foundation.

The proud first-gen Indian Australian amassed 900,000 views on one video alone, showing fans how to transform themselves into top Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan – with a large percentage of her 65,000 followers being based in India.

Yahoo Lifestyle understands Sandy turned to TikTok during Melbourne's harsh Covid lockdowns and “never expected her videos to take off”. It was also her presence on TikTok that helped “win over Married At First Sight producers who loved how comfortable and confident she was on camera”.

Yet due to the show's strict rules around social media, Sandy was forced to stop posting and lock her TikTok down for eight months, with fans only now discovering her content as it's made public again.

“The only reason I watched mafs is because you were the first brown person to represent us and that truly means a lot,” one fan commented on a recent video.

“THANK YOU FOR REPING US DESI GIRLS ON NATIONAL TV,” another fan wrote.

“I had no idea you were on here, so glad you appeared on my fyp [for you page],' wrote a third.

"Sandy, you're a legend, can't wait to see true love come your way," a fan wrote.

MAFS relationship drama

While Sandy and Dan Hunjas first appeared to be a pretty good match on the reality TV show, things quickly took a turn, with the groom constantly leaving his bride on her own in their apartment for hours while he went to the gym.

Dan was filmed telling Sandy her lack of enthusiasm about visiting the beach was jarring for him, with an insider at the time telling Yahoo the groom was "perplexed" when she told him she's "allergic to the ocean".

"Dan went onto MAFS hoping to find a wife he could move into his penthouse on the Gold Coast and they can live the ultimate beachy lifestyle together," the source revealed.

"He's semi-retired after experiencing a lot of success early on in his life and spends every day at the beach and then getting a juice and walking around Broadbeach. When Sandy said she's no fan of the beach and can't swim in the ocean, he genuinely thought there was no way past this."

Instead, Dan then spent his days during production going to the gym alone and then heading to Bondi, only returning to Sandy when they had scenes to film.
