MAFS 2020: Groom Mikey spotted with mystery woman

Australia watched him say ‘I do’ to his TV bride, Natasha Spencer, on Tuesday night but that didn’t stop Married At First Sight star Michael ‘Mikey’ Pembroke from being spotted with a mystery brunette.

The 29-year-old operations manager was snapped with the crop-top clad woman outside a gym in Sydney’s Vaucluse during filming for the 2020 season last year.

Mikey, a former North Shore private schoolboy, sported a basketball singlet and shorts as he made his way inside for a workout only to pause at the entry for a chat with his lady friend.

There’s no funny business here, however, as it turns out that the woman is Holly Griffith Cook, the wife of one of Mikey's friends, Sydney-based personal trainer Clay Cook.

“Yes, she is my wife,” Clay tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

“Holly and Mikey are good friends and train together in our private gym in Vaucluse,” he adds.

The pair were spotted together inside the gym where Mikey worked up a sweat in what looked to be a group training session.

His bride, fellow Sydneysider Natasha, didn’t appear to be on hand for the gym session.

The financial analyst, 26, admitted she has a ‘penchant for older men’ and describes herself as ‘outspoken and bold’.

On Wednesday morning, Mikey was without his wife for an interview on Nova 96.9 prompting hosts Fitzy and Wippa to quiz him about the state of their relationship.

MAFS’ ratings win

It’s still early days but Married At First Sight is already a clear winner when it comes to TV ratings, taking the top spot in Monday night’s free-to-air report.

MAFS’s drama-packed 2020 season premiere attracted a whopping 1,154,000 viewers, beating out rival reality shows MKR and Survivor as well as ratings juggernauts Seven and Nine news.

In true MAFS style, this year’s offering kicked off with a bang courtesy bride Poppy who almost walked out of her wedding reception.

After tying the knot with lonely heart Luke Eglin, 39, the 38-year-old mum of two broke down in tears, revealing she was missing her twin boys.

Married At First Sight continues on Channel Nine tonight at 7:30pm.
