Lucy Liu Saves Whoville From The Grinch In Killer 'SNL' Sketch

Lucy Liu didn’t let the Grinch steal Christmas in Whoville this weekend as she went killer mode on the Dr. Seuss character in a “Saturday Night Live” sketch.

The actor, who starred as O-Ren Ishii in Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” action movies, appeared in the “Cut for Time” sketch after the Grinch (played by “SNL” host Martin Short) returned to the Whos as a reformed, holiday-loving creature that wished to help decorate Whoville.

“I was wrong about Christmas, it’s not about presents,” said Short’s Grinch as he stood on a ladder and Cindy Lou Who (played by Chloe Fineman) handed him a decorative star to place on top of a tree.

But before the Grinch got to reveal the “true meaning of Christmas,” he dropped the star, which wound up cutting a Whos’ head open and killing them instantly.

Short’s Grinch tried to assure the Whos that it was all “fine,” but more chaos ensued as the Who with the star in his head pierced the chest of another, setting off a series of bloody events that killed both of Cindy Lou Who’s parents.

“Cindy Lou Who may be small and sweet, but not my sister, Lucy Liu Who,” Fineman’s Cindy Lou Who declared in a dramatic close-up parodying a shot out of the “Kill Bill” movies.

Liu stepped in moments later, and the Grinch, who begged for mercy, wasn’t on her nice list.

“I guess there’s no one left to carve this roast beast,” Liu said as she took a blade out of a dish and displayed it in front of her face. “So I better carve some Grinch instead.”

She swiftly approached the Grinch and beheaded him with the blade.

“And to all a good night,” Liu said before a graphic for “Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Kill Grinch’” flashed on screen.

Short previously brought the world of Dr. Seuss to life — with a lot less blood — when he voiced the Cat in the Hat on the children’s show “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!” which aired from 2010 to 2018.
