Jacobson — who is the daughter of Meryl Streep and who publicly came out in June 2024 — was on hand at the event to receive the HRC Visibility Award, which celebrates her impactful work in expanding LGBTQ+ representation on- and off-screen. The HRC is the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization.

“I am so, so grateful and thankful to the HRC. I was surprised because I had only recently come out,” she told PEOPLE of the honor. “It’s such a brilliant opportunity to speak about visibility and what it means to this community and what it means to me.”

Jacobson’s costar Carrie Coon told PEOPLE in August that she was “really shocked by a couple of the twists we have coming. So that was thrilling. They keep surprising me. I haven't even seen all the scripts yet, so I am eager to be surprised."

Coon, 44, shared that she loves when the cast comes together for big moments, explaining, "It's funny, our favorite days are when we have big ballroom scenes or big charity event scenes because all of us are there."

"Typically, I'm confined to working with Morgan [Spector] and Taissa [Farmiga] and Harry [Richardson]," she added. "But we have the most fun when it's everyone together because it really does devolve into the old theater camp. We really do have a ball. There's a lot of singing, a lot of complaining, a lot of dancing, and we just laugh."
