Los Angeles brings out all the stops for 2028 Olympics with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, and Snoop Dogg

H.E.R. sang the national anthem in Paris while the other artists rocked Venice Beach.

If there's one thing Los Angeles has plenty of, it's star power.

And to amp you up for the 2028 Olympic Games in the world's most congested city, L.A. brought out some of its biggest hometown artists to commemorate the end of the '24 Games in Paris and the countdown to LA28.

H.E.R. sang the national anthem at the Stade de France before Tom Cruise dove in from the roof, literally, and kicked off the Olympic flag's (pre-recorded) journey to its new home in L.A. Cruise handed off the flag to a series of Olympians who brought it to Long Beach where the Red Hot Chili Peppers were live onstage performing "Can't Stop," from their 2002 album By the Way.

Billie Eilish, hanging out on a lifeguard tower, then took over, performing "Birds of a Feather" from her latest album Hit Me Hard and Soft. Snoop Dogg must have just left Paris having charmed the entire city, if not the world, with his Olympic shenanigans, and returned home to L.A. to do what he does best: charm the hell out of a microphone.

The Doggfather of Rap performed the 2004 classic "Drop It Like It's Hot" then brought out Dr. Dre for the 2000 classic "The Next Episode."

"This is the biggest moment in LA28 history to date, as the Olympic flag passes from Paris to LA,” LA28 Chairperson and President Casey Wasserman said in a statement. “We are thrilled to feature the very best of LA with local artists and are grateful to Billie, H.E.R., the Chili Peppers, and Snoop for their collaboration on what will be an incredible show to a global audience that will give fans a taste of what’s to come in 2028.”

“The countdown to LA28 begins with the Paris Closing Ceremony,” added Molly Solomon, Executive Producer, and President, NBC Olympics Programming. “As we conclude one of the most spectacular Games ever, Paris will hand over the Olympic flag to Los Angeles, who gets things started with a powerhouse lineup of musical superstars that will rock the world."

Well, the Olympics may be over, but as the saying goes, we'll always have Snoop touring the Louvre in Paris
