Loretta Lynn’s Granddaughter Emmy Russell Welcomes First Child: ‘So in Love’

Emmy Russell, the granddaughter of the late country music star Loretta Lynn, had an exciting family update to share with her friends and fans late last week.

As the American Idol alum revealed in a Jan. 30 post on Instagram, she and fellow musician Tyler Ward were preparing to celebrate the arrival of their first child together at any moment.

“Tonight us, tomorrow parents,” Russell, 26, wrote in a post that contained a video montage of clips and photos from her relationship with fellow singer/songwriter Ward, 40. “Can’t wait to see who you are as a dad and who I am as a mom, but know I’ll always cherish when it was just us 🤍.”

The next day, Ward posted a video on his own Instagram grid that announced they had a “Healthy baby.” In the video, the proud new dad rocked his baby girl in his arms and briefly glanced up to flash a grin at the camera. He included a text overlay with the video that noted, “she’s 12 hours old.”

“All worth it🤍,” the “Redemption” songstress commented on Ward’s video. Russell, who made it to American Idol’s Top 5 in Season 22 before she was eliminated, later shared a black and white photo on Instagram Stories that also showed Ward holding their daughter. The photo, which was taken above Ward’s head, looked down on their baby as she was swaddled in a blanket.

“I’m so in love with these two.. dad is amazing while mom is healing .. this is not glamorous, lots of tears and frustration, body pain that I’m feeling, but dad is pulling through on my behalf,” Russell wrote in a message that she included with the snapshot.

“Feeling super grateful tonight .. excited to share baby she is sooo beautiful. I’ve cried lots of tears when I look at her,” the new mom added.

In addition to becoming a family of three, Russell and Ward were also recently married, according to Southern Living. Though it was unclear exactly when the two tied the knot, Russell’s mother, Patsy Lynn, confirmed the marriage with the magazine on Feb. 1.
