Logies 2024: Major voting change results in bad news for Home and Away
There’s a surprising reason why the show was ‘snubbed’ at the 2024 Logie Awards.
Home and Away fans have been left disappointed after it was revealed that the popular Channel Seven soap opera only received one nomination at the 2024 Logie Awards. Tristan Gorey, who joined the show in November as Dr Levi Fowler, received the show’s sole nomination for Most Popular New Talent.
Despite being the most successful program in Logies history, winning a total of 49 awards since it premiered in 1988, this year marks the first time ever that Home and Away has only received a single nomination. The show, which was inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame in 2015, is typically one of the most-nominated titles at the Logies and received six nominations last year.
This is also the first time that the series itself hasn’t received any nominations in the drama categories, having been nominated for the ‘Most Popular Drama Series’ award every year since it was re-introduced in 2004.

The surprising snub is likely due to a major change in this year’s award show, with a majority of the longstanding ‘Popular’ and ‘Outstanding’ categories being merged and renamed as ‘Best’.
While Home and Away has typically been nominated in the ‘Most Popular’ categories where the winner is determined by the Australian public, the new categories will use a combined score from a judging panel, viewing data and public votes.
The change was implemented “to ensure the awards evolve and prosper as well as reflect Australia’s vibrant, dynamic and world-class television industry, alongside the viewing habits of Australians”.
