Logies 2024: Aussies react to Sam Pang's brutal opening speech

From roasting Channel Seven to poking fun at MAFS, no one was safe from Sam Pang's opening speech.

Sam Pang has opened the 2024 Logies with a bang, with no one safe from his opening roast, not even Channel Seven, the network streaming the event.

"Whatever I say, this network will defend me in court," Sam said. "And with their impeccable record with their defamation cases in the last few years, I’m sure I will be fine. Full disclosure, I’m not being paid by Seven. For the next 12 months they’re paying my rent, which is handy."

From dragging MAFS to poking fun at the Gold Logie nominees, no one could hide from Sam Pang - not even Home and Away's beloved Ray Meagher, who turned 80 last month.

"Next couple of hours are critical, mate," Sam said to Ray, after making a joke he wasn't sure if he'd be at the Logies or in the the In Memoriam section.

"Reality shows continue to thrive. One of the biggest shows sees contestants thrown together, isolated and willingly eating testicles and sometimes anus. That’s right, Married At First Sight continues to go from strength to strength...” Sam also said.

Over on X, fans were quick to praise Sam for bringing some life to the Logies. "Sam Pang absolutely killing it again with his opening monologue," one person tweeted. "Sam Pang should be always hosting," another said, with someone agreeing, "Sam Pang is hitting it out of the park."

"Sam Pang's roast was elite areas," another fan tweeted.

"Not gonna lie, I was expecting Sam Pang to be a little spicier in his #Logies monologue, but he makes a good point, Channel Seven's legal team can't afford for him to be 🤣 Still a great opener though! Lots of love for the Pang man," someone else wrote.

"Sam Pang. Worth it for the MAFS joke," another viewer added.

"Another great monologue from Sam Pang. He really is the master of walking that line between funny and offensive. Tipping the #Raygun line to get plenty of traction tomorrow," was another comment.

And then, there was the person who simply tweeted: "Someone give Sam Pang a Logie for that opening monologue."
