"It takes an incredible man to be tied up for an entire film," said Lerman's costar Molly Gordon at the movie's Sundance premiere.

Actors can tie themselves in knots trying to figure out a role, but for Logan Lerman that became quite literal while making Oh, Hi!.

The film stars Lerman as Isaac, a seemingly perfect boyfriend who finds himself handcuffed to a bed in a vacation house for over 12 hours when his first weekend away with Iris (Molly Gordon) goes wildly off the rails. "It was challenging for me," the actor said following the film's premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. "I was limited in my physical options, and that became a fun challenge for me. I just enjoyed it. It was a great experience all around."

Lerman often takes on dramatic roles, such as his breakout star turn in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and his recent role in the TV miniseries, We Were the Lucky Ones. Given that, he found being tied to a bed for most of a movie a hilarious change of pace.

"This was just such a wonderful time for me," he gushed. "I'm used to doing some pretty heavy s--- and to go to work and just have fun and goof around with these great actors was so much fun."

His costar, Gordon, praised Lerman for coming onto the project and tackling the role with such fearlessness. "He changed the game for us," she said. "It takes an incredible man to do this role and be tied up for an entire film."

Director Sophie Brooks spoke more at length about the film and its portrayal of a situation-ship gone awry. "There's this thing where when a man is looking for love it's really sweet and romantic, and when a woman is looking for love, it's desperate and scary," she reflected. "As someone who's gone on a lot of dates in New York City, you can really simplify complex feelings so quickly: Men can be labeled 'assholes' and women can be labeled 'crazy.' We were excited to lean into the trope of the crazy woman and poke fun at it and poke fun at ourselves."

The audience asked Brooks and the cast for dating advice after making a film about the perils of dating in our modern era where clear communication is a challenge for so many. "Stick to missionary," quipped Geraldine Viswanathan, who costars as Iris' best friend Max, referencing the inciting incident of the film when Iris and Isaac experiment sexually.
