Lily Collins Shared an Adorable New Photo of Herself With Her Baby Girl Tove
"Utter bliss."
Lily Collins is loving her new-mom era. The actress, who announced the arrival of her daughter last week, shared a sweet Instagram Story of her first photo starring both Collins and the newest member of her family.
Collins's husband, Charlie McDowell, initially shared the sweet snap to his Story, which captured Collins pushing a stroller carrying their daughter, Tove, while wearing a long jacket, leggings, crew socks, and sneakers. McDowell simply captioned the post with two heart emoji.
Collins reposted the image to her own Story writing, "Utter bliss."
Collins announced the arrival of their baby girl on Friday, whom they welcomed via surrogate, with an adorable photo of the newborn. In the photo shared to Instagram, Tove can be seen wearing a onesie and floral knit cap while lying in a cushy bassinet.
"Welcome to the center of our world Tove Jane McDowell," she wrote alongside the photo. Collins went on to thank her and McDowell's surrogate saying, "Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way."
She added, "We love you to the moon and back again…"
The couple's celebrity friends were quick to offer their congratulations in the comments section. "I’m sobbinggggg 😍😍😍," Sarah Hyland wrote, while Jen Atkin scribed, "Hi baby cutie pie!!!!!" Collins's Emily in Paris co-star, Ashley Park, showed her support by commenting "Mom and dadddddd ❤️❤️❤️❤️," and Sofia Richie Grange said, "Love you all so much ! Congratulations 💕."
Following the announcement of their baby girl's birth, McDowell issued a response to social media users criticizing the couple's decision to explore surrogacy.
"Thank you for all the kind messages and love. We are overjoyed and very grateful," he started. "In regards to the unkind messages about surrogacy and our path to having a baby—it’s ok to not be an expert on surrogacy. It’s ok to not know why someone might need a surrogate to have a child."
"It’s ok to not know the motivations of a surrogate regardless of what you assume. And it’s ok to spend less time spewing hateful words into the world, especially in regards to a beautiful baby girl who has brought a lot of love into people’s lives," he continued. "That’s all for now because she just pooped and I need to change her diaper."
