Kmart fans share surprising cooking hack with popular $15 item: 'Cooked beautifully'
The popular Microwave Toastie Maker is being used for more than just sandwiches.
Kmart shoppers have been raving about a $15 Microwave Toastie Maker for some time now: it's cheap, it's efficient, it's fast, and it's low-fuss. And now fans are sharing all sorts of food hacks the product has delivered other than the humble toastie, raving about the speedy results when it comes to cooking things like bacon, rissoles and other meals and treats.
One converted fan took to a Kmart Facebook group to share they had used their toastie maker to cook rissoles in under five minutes. They were so pleased with the results they were going to try a steak in it next.
"I decided to use mine to cook my chicken rissoles and they taste great, two minutes each side," the poster shared. "There is only me so I'm happy with cooking my meat this way from now. I will try steak next."
The user said they could've cooked the meat in less time, but it was their first time attempting it so they wanted to be on the safe side of, well, salmonella probably.

"I didn't know how well it would cook meat and because the instructions say to cook each side of a toastie for evenness, I figured meat would be the same. I could have cooked it for less time than I did but being a first-time user is all about experimenting," they shared.

"My husband had to try this out. Rissole two minutes each side lol. He is really pleased," another person said.
"I'm loving everyone's uses for this handy little toastie thing. Definitely worth packing a set for travel," someone commented, while one dessert fan shared an enticing idea."Try cookie dough it’s ultimate," they said.

Other people however were concerned by the product and cooking methods involved. "Everyone is just eating food that is cooked with radiation and microplastics," one person said. "It's alarming to me that people are not questioning the health safety of the materials/chemicals in this toastie machine, and the heating factor," someone else commented. "It may seem cool and help with convenience, to me, it's not worth my longterm health."
"We try to avoid chemicals too, but somehow we all come into contact with some. They are impossible to escape completely!" another person pointed out.
