From a $5 cutlery tray to a $15 floor caddy, Kmart products are an absolute game-changer when it comes to refreshing and reorganising your home on a budget. One savvy shopper has inspired others after revealing how she used a $3 item from the retail store to completely transform one of the most cluttered spaces in the kitchen - the fridge.

The woman shared a photo in a popular Facebook group over the weekend showing the clever way she used Kmart’s Chrome Extendable 3 Tier Shelf, which is currently marked down from $10. While the shelf is designed to hold spice jars and canisters in the pantry, she decided to put it in the fridge for her condiments, spreads and dairy.

“So much easier with these extendable racks from Kmart and at $3 each a real bargain,” she wrote. “I’ve done crockery cupboard as well, really happy with my purchases this week.”

The photo shows all of her food products on display so she no longer needs to move things around to find what she wants.

“That’s a great idea,” one person replied, while another added, “Love this idea. Thank you”.

“Amazing,” a third commented, followed by someone else who ruefully remarked, “Damn it I didn’t need these in my pantry and gave them away”.

Others also shared that they used the $7.50 Clear Storage Turntable from Kmart to organise their sauces in the fridge.

The Chrome Extendable 3 Tier Shelf has received plenty of five-star reviews on Kmart’s product page, with shoppers describing it as a “great pantry organiser” and a “handy little space saver”.

“This is great for stacking cans on - I can see exactly what I have without having to move things around. And being adjustable is another great feature as it can fit anywhere,” one person shared.

Meanwhile, a handful of buyers pointed out that the shelf isn’t suitable for glass spice jars - despite them being used in the product image.

“The jars are not stable and several fell off and broke. I've found another use for them, but was disappointed,” someone wrote.

“The wires are oddly spaced which means that smaller spice bottles don’t easily balance and instead easily topple over,” another remarked, while a third said, “I wouldn’t recommend for spices or small jars as the rods are too far apart causing the small jars to fall over a lot but good for bigger jars (eg jam jars)”.
