Liam Hemsworth goes without his ring as he jokes with bikini-clad woman

He may be caught up in one of the biggest celebrity shock splits of the year but Liam Hemsworth has proven he’s not going to let the attention put a damper on his life.

The 29-year-old Australian actor, who has parted ways with his wife of eight months, Miley Cyrus, was snapped last Monday without his wedding ring as he laughed and joked with his famous brother, Chris Hemsworth, and an unknown bikini-clad woman in Byron Bay.

In the pictures, Liam can be seen holding on to his surfboard with his wetsuit pulled down around his waist and his hair still damp from his time spent in the water.

The trio look to be having the time of their life as they throw their heads back and laugh while packing up the car with their surfboard. It’s not known if the couple had already split when these photos were taken.

Shock split

Who could have known that just a few short days later, the The Hunger Games actor would have announced that he had split with his superstar singer wife, Miley Cyrus after ten years spent together.

“Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers,” they told People in a joint statement.

“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Liam blindsided

A source told The Sun that Miley's 'fling came as a shock' to her Australian husband, who was blindsided by how fast she was able to move on.

Liam was apparently keen to start a family and settle down with the love of his life, whom he’s had an on-again-off-again relationship with since 2010.

“Their marriage is over and Liam is absolutely heartbroken, but Miley is making up for lost time,” the source said.

“He wants to settle down and have a conventional family including kids, but that couldn't be further from what Miley is after right now.

“She made it clear she wanted to be able to have fun with other people - men and women - but it's always been something he's had a hard time understanding.”

A source close to the couple told OK! magazine back in May that Miley and Liam were having major issues in their relationship, and it was all down to the superstar singer’s odd behaviour on the red carpet at the Met Gala.

"Liam knows that Miley is a free spirit, but sometimes she goes too far," the source told the publication, after Miley was pictured licking her husband’s face.

"She was licking his face for the cameras on the red carpet, then grinding on people on the dance floor inside and grabbing her crotch.”

The insider went on to say that Miley’s antics ‘turned off’ Liam, who ‘doesn’t like that side of her’.

Miley’s moved on

Despite only marrying in December 2018, it seems Miley has already moved on from Liam, after she was photographed kissing Hills star Brody Jenner’s ex-wife, Kaitlynn Carter, while they both holidayed together in Italy.

Brody and Kaitlynn only announced their separation on August 2, just one year after they said ‘I do’ in Indonesia.

According to a source, it was Kaitylynn’s strong desire to have kids that really tore the couple apart.

“They butted heads over that constantly. Kaitlynn really wants to be a mom and never swayed from that. She thought Brody was change his mind, but he didn’t.” the source told People.

Unique relationship

Meanwhile, Miley on the other hand, told Elle magazine last month that she was redefining what it means to be a wife.

"I mean, do people really think that I'm at home in a f**king apron cooking dinner?" she said.

"I'm in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women. People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still f**king good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don't fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don't even like that word."
