Yahoo Lifestyle Leonardo DiCaprio Pledges $1 Million For L.A. Wildfire Relief & Recovery
Leonardo DiCaprio has committed $1 million to wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles County, the Oscar winner announced Wednesday.
“The Los Angeles wildfires are devastating our city,” the L.A. native wrote today in his Instagram stories. “I am committing $1 million in partnership with @rewild’s Rapid Response Program to support both urgent needs and post-fire recovery efforts. Initial aid will immediately benefit the LA Fire Department Foundation, California Fire Foundation, World Central Kitchen, California Community Foundation, Pasadena Humane Society and SoCal Fire Fund – organizations providing much-needed resources to our first responders and firefighters, and the people, animals and communities who need it most.”

DiCaprio is now part of a growing movement of celebrities putting their money where their mouth is, when it comes to the wildfires. He joins the likes of Beyoncé, who pledged $2.5 million to victims of the Eaton Fire, Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest, who pledged $1 million, and Eva Longoria, who did the same. Yesterday, Paris Hilton announced that she’d raised $800,000 to put toward wildfire relief efforts in just 72 hours.
In addition to individuals in entertainment, numerous corporations have come forward to donate to the cause. Google and YouTube announced a contribution of $15 million on Wednesday, with Meta, CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, pledging $4 million in total. Also getting involved recently was Snapchat, which has pledged $5 million and counting.
