Lady Gaga Is Rumored to Perform at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics Opening Ceremonies: Here's Why Fans Think So

Rumors about the pop star performing at the 2024 Olympics' kick-off are swirling after fans spotted her in Paris this week

Recent Lady Gaga sightings in Paris have many wondering if the star is in town for more than just a quick overseas trip.

The singer, 38, was seen arriving in the City of Light on Monday, July 22, immediately sparking rumors that she flew in to not only watch the Olympic Games, which kick off on Friday, July 26, but also perform at the opening ceremonies, too.

One fan video shared on X (formerly Twitter) captured Gaga — who wore a Ducie black leather jacket, matching sunglasses and a baseball cap — waving, blowing kisses and making hand hearts from her car this week. Meanwhile, another recorded the Grammy winner discreetly leaving her hotel in the French capital, again, wearing dark shades and a gray hoodie pulled over her head, while security whisked her to a car.

More fan footage posted on X also showed Gaga and boyfriend, Michael Polansky, returning to their hotel from what's rumored to be rehearsals for Gaga's performance at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Gaga's fan sightings come just days after the Olympics' official social media accounts teased a special guest appearance for the Games' opening ceremony in a cryptic video posted on July 19. In the clip, the mystery figure is seated and disguised head to toe in shiny armor while ominous music plays in the background. They then buckle up their belts and pull the Olympic flag across their back like a cape as they walk off into the distance.

“You haven’t seen anything yet,” the video teases. “See you on 26 July.”

Fans have other theories about who may perform at the Olympics kick-off this week, with Variety and TMZ reporting about a potential comeback for Céline Dion following her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis that was revealed in December 2022.

Artistic director Thomas Jolly, who was tapped to lead the 2024 Summer Olympics' opening and closing ceremonies, remained tight-lipped when asked about performers in a recent interview with the Associated Press. “I’ll be fired if I tell you anything,” he said with a laugh. “All I can tell you is that it will be very meaningful for the artists that will perform.”

Rumors about Gaga's potential opening ceremony performance come amid hints about new music she's been working on ahead of her Joker: Folie à Deux film, which hits theaters on Oct. 4.

In an Instagram post shared on July 18, the "Bad Romance" singer posted photos of herself standing in front of a studio microphone captioned, "Just me in the studio—happy as ever making music 🖤🕶️💋🎶 feel so grateful, heart is peaceful. It’s like meditation. I can’t wait for you to hear what I’m working on."

A source recently told PEOPLE that Gaga has "never been happier" about the material she's been recording lately, adding, "She’s feeling the most creative she’s ever been."
