The lot includes 150 intricate pieces.
A cherry red and raspberry silk organza ballgown with a matching cape from the brand’s haute couture fall 2019 collection is being estimated to sell for 5,000 pounds to 8,000 pounds. The dress was worn by Hathaway to the virtual premiere of “The Witches” in London during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jolie’s custom-made layered chiffon and tulle hand-pleated dress with beads and chains that she wore to the London premiere of “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” in 2019 is being estimated with a starting price of 4,000 pounds to 6,000 pounds. The dress’ gold cage bodice was made in Italy by a jeweler artisan and also features a floor-length drape cape.
A tulle strapless gown worn by Jenner to the Oscars Vanity Fair after party in 2020 is also being estimated to sell for 4,000 pounds to 6,000 pounds. The dress was part of Ralph & Russo’s haute couture spring 2020 collection, which took 200 hours to make and features a structured rounded corset, embellished with sequins and Swarovski crystals.
“The dresses are breathtaking, having been hand-embellished by the skilled hands of the former atelier taking many hours to complete, the craftsmanship can only be compared to a spectacular work of art. The gowns come with impeccable provenance, coming from the original archives of Ralph & Russo,” said Meg Randell, head of U.K. and Europe designer handbags and fashion at Bonhams.
Other gowns in the lot include a mustard yellow silk double satin gown worn by Kidman; Adriana Lima’s white double satin draped gown that she wore to the Oscars Vanity Fair after party in 2020 and Winnie Harlow’s black tulle fishtail gown that she wore to the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
Ralph & Russo, which was founded in London in 2006, was the first British guest member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode et de la Couture in more than a century.
As reported, the brand was placed into administration, or bankruptcy protection in 2021, blaming the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns for the collapse of the business.
In the summer of 2021, Retail Ecommerce Ventures bought the business and assets of Ralph & Russo Limited.
