Kyle Sandilands shocked listeners on Monday morning when he revealed he will be forced to undergo brain surgery after receiving a terrifying health diagnosis. The 53-year-old father-of-one announced on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that he has a brain aneurysm which requires “immediate attention”.

“On Friday I was told by my medical team, which sounds like I'm already very sick to have a medical team, that I have a brain aneurysm and it requires immediate attention. Brain surgery,” he said.

“So if you just tuned in to us after all these years, lap it up. And if you're in Melbourne, you're coming to the party too late. You may get your wish, I may be dead. It’s possible, it’s highly possible.”

While Jackie ‘O’ Henderson teared up and encouraged Kyle to “think positive”, the shock jock said he doesn’t think being optimistic would have any benefit to his health and doesn't need a “lecture”.

The Australian Idol judge went on to say that he feels okay at the moment and explained his condition to his team members while showing them a scan of his brain.

“See that thing that looks like a little man there? That’s waiting to burst, and if it bursts I die instantly,” he explained.

“It's not a blockage. It's like, imagine your blood vessel is the garden hose and the garden hose is weak and it blisters out like a big bubble. You know, like a puncture in it, like a bike tyre with a big bubble. That bubble is the aneurysm. So it's not blocked, it's expanded and if it bursts, that’s it. I’m either a vegetable in the wheelchair or dead.”

After his operation, which will see the doctors either perform keyhole surgery or “cut away parts of [his] skull” to open up his head, Kyle will be required to take two to eight weeks off work.

To get his health back on track, Kyle said his doctor has written him a list of things that he is banned from doing.

“No cocaine is the first thing on the list, which is devastating - only joking. No sex, no masturbating, no lifting, no stress, all this s**t,” he detailed. “My life has got a lot better, I don’t have to do anything at home. Every time I look at [my wife Tegan], her eyes well up with tears. I think she’s counting down the days.”

He also told listeners that he decided to get his health checked after experiencing a series of headaches and if he hadn’t seen the doctor he would’ve died.
