Kristin Chenoweth, 56, Dishes on Age Gap Courtship With Husband Josh Bryant, 41

Kristin Chenoweth, 56, sat down with the hosts of The View this week to talk about her new holiday movie, Our Little Secret—and she took the opportunity to dish about the relationship with her husband, Josh Bryant, 41.

As the iconic Broadway star explained, even though Bryant made an impression on her the first time she saw him, they didn't become a couple right away.

"My niece went to Oklahoma University and his band was playing and she loved them, so she hired them to do her wedding," Chenoweth said on The View. "I showed up to sing with this band I’ve never met. They were called Backroad Anthem at the time. And I look at the band and I looked at Josh and I thought, 'Who dat? He was so cute!'"

"He’s a little younger than me, but I think age is just a number," she added.

"And we just became friends," the star continued. "A year and a half later, my nephew got married, and we had stayed friends. I stayed friends with all the guys in the band, and he was there, and he said, 'I'd like to court you.'"

"I said, 'Are you from 1935? Courting?'" Chenoweth joked.

When Bryant showed up to her next concert, their romance really took off.

"He said, 'Where would you like to eat?' And I had the guts to say Waffle House because I was so hungry and we went, and it's all she wrote. That was it. He had me at Waffle House," she admitted.

According to People, Bryant proposed to Chenoweth in October 2021 on the rooftop of the Rainbow Room in New York City. The couple tied the knot nearly two years later in Dallas, Texas, on Sept. 2, 2023.
