Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have discovered a clever way to get their kids to stop asking for a cellphone.

As a guest on the Monday, Sept. 23 episode of The View, the actress, 44, shared that her two daughters, Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9, who she shares with her actor husband, 49, "do not have phones."

"They have iPods they can use for music and stuff and I guess they can text with grandma at home because it’s on the WiFi." she explained, before revealing how she and Shepard convinced their kids that "phones are a trick."

"To be honest, the initial conversations we had with our kids were about how phones are a trick. We felt that was an interesting way to introduce it," she began. "Whenever my husband and I would pick up it ,we would go, ‘You know, this phone, it has all these tricks inside that make me want to come back to it.’"

With these conversations, Bell said, "They kind of developed a little bit of a suspicion about it, which was really helpful."

"And then, to be honest, I’m just glad people are researching it and exploring it," she continued. "Because with every new piece of technology — look, cars. Cars are so great. We can get everywhere! And then we’re like, ‘Whoops, accidents. We gotta do seat belts.’"

"There’s going to have to be progression with our understanding and how we’re caring for the people who are using this technology," she said.

Bell and Shepard's phone trick is not their only interesting parenting "hack." While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, Sept. 19, the proud mom revealed that she and Shepard let their kids roam around a Danish amusement park for "7 hours" on a recent trip to Denmark.

"The hack is when we went to Copenhagen, we stayed at this hotel that was right at Tivoli Gardens, which is a seven-acre theme park," Bell said. "Which apparently is maybe where Walt Disney got the idea for Disneyland."

"Anyway, the hotel opens up into the theme park and so we just were kind of like, 'Are we going to free-range parenting and roll the die here?'" she continued. "We let them wake up...they woke up at like 6:00 every morning. They scanned their bracelets to go outside. Didn't see them for seven hours. Just running around Copenhagen."

"And that was okay?" Kimmel asked.

"Apparently. They're both alive. We all returned home," Bell joked. "It was heaven. We just had coffee, we played Spades, and then around 3:00 we'd be like, 'Anybody see them?' And then one of them would run up and need a Band-Aid or whatever."
