Kristen Bell Reveals Husband Dax Shepard's Reaction to Her Chemistry with Adam Brody in “Nobody Wants This”
Bell says her husband is rooting for her onscreen relationship in the Netflix series
Kristen Bell says her husband Dax Shepard is a fan of her chemistry with Adam Brody in Nobody Wants This.
Speaking with E! News for a recently published eTalk interview, the Veronica Mars alum, 44, opened up about what Shepard, 49, thought when he watched her steamy scenes with Brody, 44, in the all-new Netflix rom-com.
“Even I can acknowledge watching it, like, ‘Whoa, that’s hot,’ ” Bell told the outlet. “My husband said the same thing. Like, watching the first episode he was like, ‘Oh my God, I want you to kiss him so badly.’ ”
The series, which debuted on the streaming service on Sept. 26, follows “an agnostic sex podcaster and a newly single rabbi [who] fall in love,” according to an official synopsis.
The description goes on to ask, “But can their relationship survive their wildly different lives and meddling families?”
According to Bell, though her onscreen chemistry with Adam looks convincing enough to make her own husband root for the TV couple, it wasn't easy to master the seduction.
“I’m not trying to be reductive, but I think there’s a math to it,” she told E! News. “You have two actors that know how to stare dopily into each other’s eyes, and you have to have the confidence to expand that and really sit the anticipatory value before the kiss — which I think is really important.”
“Whether or not people want to see you end up with someone is a crap shoot, and we just kind of got lightning in a bottle,” she added of their connection in the Erin Foster-created series.
Bell and Shepard share daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9. After more than a decade of marriage and two kids, Bell explained what drew her to her latest role.

“I liked it so much because it felt like a very modern take on romance, and the characters are not 22, they’re, like, 38,” she told PEOPLE. “It addresses everything from the perils of dating apps to more serious topics like what it means for people with different backgrounds and outlooks on life to bridge those differences in the name of love."
And while Shepard may be supporting his wife's role in Nobody Wants This, Bell recently told PEOPLE they can be quite competitive.
"We're competitive together all the time, but we're nice when we're playing pickleball," the actress exclusively told PEOPLE in an article published on Sept. 28. "We're not trying to make each other break a hip or anything."
Nobody Wants This is now streaming on Netflix.
