Kmart shoppers obsessed with $13 item that every parent needs: 'Best investment I've made'
This Kmart item is an essential for parents who need ten minutes of peace.
A $13 Kmart item will likely sell out after one mum shared that it was a game changer for giving her "10 minutes of peace" while keeping her child entertained. The $13 Narwhal Vertical Bubble Fountain Toy is the item in question, and it blows up to 20,000 bubbles in just five minutes and up to six metres high in the air.
"If you're a mum who just wants like ten minutes of silence, ten minutes of peace, ten minutes to yourself, or whatever it is – run to Kmart, because this is the best investment I've made," the young mother shared on TikTok. "It keeps my four-month-old quiet as anything for a solid five to ten minutes."

She added, "It's quite literally just a bubble machine, and it produces something like 30,000 bubbles within a few minutes or whatever."
The mum showed her baby calmly sitting and watching the bubbles, saying, "This has been her for the past 10-15 minutes. Apart from nap times and bottles, this is genuinely the first time she's been silent all day, she's been crying, super upset, not wanting to do anything. I put this on – not a peep. It has been radio silence for ages."
Parents love Kmart's $13 bubble machine
Many mums commented on the video, saying they will need to purchase the machine for their little ones, with one writing, "I have 4 month old twins and one of them is going through his pterodactyl screeching phase, definitely gonna have to get one of these."
"Omg love! Kids are obsessed with bubbles," another said.
"Do not use this inside it's CRAZY but it's amazing outside!" a third warned. "I put mine in the shower with baby and I was like ahhhh! Hahaha immediately turned it off! It WORKS that's for sure!"
"I want one for myself," someone else joked.
"Awwwwww so cute. My daughter loves them too," another shared.
Warning about Kmart brand bubble mixture
While the bubble machine is a hit with parents the bubble mixture came with a warning from one parent about staining.
"Bubble machines are so good! My daughter had this one but she wouldn’t leave it alone and broke it," one person said, adding that she heard from others that the bubble mixture that Kmart includes can leave stains. "I never noticed (amongst all the other stains lol) but I’ve heard it from a lot of people."
The original poster responded, "I’ve used a different solution to the Kmart one!! So I’ll keep this in mind and not use it to be safe haha."
How to make non-toxic bubbles
Another concern came from a first-time mum who commented, "I’m a nervous FT mummy with a 5 mo, did you use any particular bubble mixture? I’m worried about chemicals but I know he would loooooove bubbles."
The OP responded, "I totally understand that and have thought of this myself, but I used one my mum got for her which I think is from Kmart. Just Googled though and here’s a link to non toxic DIY bubbles."
The recipe she shared lists two cups of water, one cup of liquid castile soap, half a cup of glycerine, 15 drops of essential oils such as lavender (not essential, but creates a nice scent), and a glass jar for storage.

To create the mix, add the ingredients in this order: water, glycerine, then soap, stir gently so you don't create too many suds. Add the essential oils if using, and stir gently. You can use the solution immediately or let it sit overnight. Store in a glass container or jar.
However, according to Poison Control, traditional bubbles (soap and water) are not toxic, but may cause an upset stomach if induced.
"Bubble solution is a low-toxicity product," the website reads. "However, if you swallow it, it may cause mild stomach upset. The nonionic and anionic detergents in the dish soap can cause nausea, vomiting, stomachache, and diarrhea. Throat irritation is also possible."
Store-bought bubble solutions may contain chemicals that might be toxic for dogs, however, as it's usually a small amount, it is manageable.
If you are using bubbles near dogs, make sure to monitor that they aren't eating too many and they will be safe!
