Kmart shoppers divided over popular $129 item: 'Absolutely rubbish'
The retailer's dupe of a popular $779 product has sparked debate online.
From $6 perfumes to $45 slow cookers, it’s no surprise that shoppers turn to Kmart to buy dupes of popular products at a much lower price point. The budget retailer has become well known for selling similar items to big-name brands with a cheaper price tag, however, there’s always a risk that the quality has been sacrificed.
One shopper recently posted in a popular Facebook group asking whether they should purchase Kmart’s $129 Cordless Stick Cleaner, which has touch screen control, suction power and a 2 in 1 crevice/brush nozzle. While the product is said to be a dupe of Dyson’s $779 cordless stick vacuum, buyers took to the comments to share their thoughts on the item’s quality.
“I had one and it was great to start with but then not so good shortly after and I threw it out after 6 months,” one person shared, while another added, “Not a fan at all. Too heavy. Battery runs out fairly quickly if larger house”.

“Mine worked for a month then stopped working out of nowhere. Waste of money,” a third replied, followed by someone else who said it was “absolutely rubbish”.
“It doesn't have great suction and unfortunately my house is carpeted so I just use it in the kitchen, it's useless on carpet,” a different user commented.
Shoppers share positive reviews
Meanwhile, there were plenty of users who said they have been using the vacuum for years and find that it works “perfectly”.
“I have this one and it has been going strong for over 4 years!” one shopper responded.
“Had ours for about a month and it's been great! Better than our other $400 stick vacuum,” someone else said, with another writing, “I’ve got this one I’ve had it for 2 years, still works perfectly”.
“I’ve got this vacuum had it for a couple of years now and it hasn’t caused me any issues. You need to make sure you maintain cleaning the machine properly,” a different buyer remarked.
Kmart’s product page also has hundreds of five-star reviews, with the average rating sitting at 4.7. Shoppers have described the vacuum as “easy to use”, “very handy” and “great quality”.
TikTokers praise Dyson dupe
TikTok creators have also been loving the product, with one person (@amyfrancessavage) telling her followers that she was “very, very happy” with the result.
“If you’re thinking about getting a Dyson and don’t have the money, definitely go and get this one from Kmart,” she said.

Another user (@ellieandlife) admitted she was disappointed by how long the vacuum takes to charge and how quickly the battery drains, but said it’s “perfect for a small home for everyday indoor use”.
“It was $129 and honestly, I’m quite happy with that,” she said. “I give this product an 8/10.”
