Spring has sprung, sneezing is in the air, the weather is (mostly) warming up, and before we're all lured into a hot, thirsty summer, Kmart and Target shoppers have been snapping up a sweet little deal on a product perfect for your next house party.

Taking to a Facebook group, one excited shopper raved about the $99 product, saying they managed to locate it at Target after Kmart selling out. "Finally got my hands on this bad boy!" they said. What is the new popular product, you may ask?

A nifty $99 ice-maker, that's what.

I know what you're thinking. "You can make ice in little plastic trays and put it in your freezer for much cheaper." That's true! But in this day and age, it's all about convenience, baby. And memory. You think my ADHD lets me remember to fill plastic ice trays? Absolutely not.

Believe the hype. In some ways it may sound like a completely unnecessary item, but Aussies are bloody loving this little invention and for good reason. When someone said they didn't understand the obsession with the ice-maker, a few people rushed to its defence.

"[It's] great for parties, for people who like ice in everything. I can barely keep up with the kids during summer," one person said. "They love crunching on ice (they are a nicer freeze than in the freezer - a bit softer so not as harsh on them). Take 10 minutes and they can make it themselves."

As a child who was also a massive ice-cruncher much to my mum's disdain, I'm sold.

"We love ours, best thing we ever did" another said, while someone else praised its convenience. "For us it’s been extremely convenient, purely for the fact that I can’t drink anything without ice," they shared. "And if the kids use ice, they often forget to refill the trays."

"For $99 I’m definitely happy with it," another converted fan commented. "I've had my ice maker for over a week now and it's been fantastic, I love that it's self-cleaning."

Some people raised concerns about the ice sticking together, but other shoppers weighed in with handy hacks to ease the burden.

"I got one before and when you freeze the ice cubes they would stick together, does it do that?" a worried person asked.

"I spin my ice in a salad spinner before I put it in the freezer and it helps with the sticking together," one person shared. "I put mine in a big zip lock bag put them in the freezer and when I need ice, bang the bag on the bench to break them up," another said.

"To stop the ice cubes from sticking together, empty them onto a nonstick cookie/ biscuit tray, spread the ice apart, then place the tray with ice into the freezer... once frozen, you can place them into whatever container you're going to use to hold the ice in the freezer. I do this and have never had any stick together," one helpful, methodical person said.
