Kmart recalls sold out kid's toy over safety concerns

Kmart has recalled a children’s toy that was so popular it has been sold out for the past few weeks.

The Wooden Climbing Ladder, which retailed for $25, has been pulled from shelves over safety concerns.

The recall was first spotted by a Kmart Facebook fan account, with one person writing: “The Kmart climbing ladder has been recalled after a few breaking within load ratings.

“You can take back to store without proof of purchase for a refund. I called customer service today and they said an official recall will happen this week but they are already accepting the product back.”

A Kmart spokesperson told 7News: “At Kmart, we’re committed to the quality and safety of all of our products, which is why we made the decision to temporarily withdraw our Wooden Climbing Ladder from show, following a small number of customer complaints”.

“We believe these are isolated incidents, but have withdrawn the product as a precautionary measure while we investigate.”

While they didn’t elaborate on what the customer complaints were, some Facebook fans of the brand had reported their child’s toy had broken.

The product isn’t available to purchase on the Kmart website anymore.
