'Clever' Kmart bin hack has shoppers raving: 'Need to steal this'

A Kmart shopper has showcased a ‘clever’ new use for the discount retailer’s cheap and cheerful bamboo hamper that has nothing to do with dirty laundry.

The woman took to Facebook to share her take on the ‘bin hack’ which involves replacing the cotton laundry bag that comes with the $35 hamper with a 30L pedal rubbish bin.

Well, it’s not quite as simple as that, as she explained in her post.

“So I did the bin hack today and must say looks soo much better than what we had before!” the woman wrote.

“I cut the two rods that were meant to hold the hamper and nailed them through the bottom rails on either side to hold the bin,” she added.

The woman completed the bin hack by adding two $7 Medium Storage Containers to the shelves for sorting recycling and a reed diffuser to keep the whole area smelling sweet.

All-in-all, the chic and functional DIY cost $94 — and attracted a lot of praise and compliments on Facebook from fellow Kmart fans.

“Omg this is amazing!” wrote one.

“I love this thank you for sharing,” added another.

Several were inspired to transform their own rubbish and recycling set up.

“Might have to steal this idea,” one revealed.
