Clever trick turns $7.50 Kmart buy into kitchen space saver
A woman’s clever space-saving hack for her kitchen counter using some popular Kmart items has gone viral online.
Taking to a Kmart Mums Facebook group, Katelyn shared photos of a her hanging fruit bowl that was put together using the Kmart Woven Hanging Planter and the Faux Rattan Fruit Bowl.
“We don't have much bench space so my husband put together this hanging fruit bowl using both the hanging pot and bowl from Kmart,” Katelyn wrote on Facebook.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Katelyn explained they used rope from Spotlight to attach the fruit bowl below the hanging pot, and then left a loop at the bottom for bananas.
“We hang the bananas because it helps them last longer and prevent ripening too quick,” she tells us.
With both items only costing $7.50 and $8 respectively, this is a cheap solution if you’re also running short on space on your kitchen bench.
And plenty of people seemed to agree, with Katelyn’s post getting over 200 likes in less than 24 hours.

“What a novel idea,” one person commented, adding: “Thinking outside the box.”
“Love this idea,” another agreed.
It comes after another woman also used two different Kmart products to make a gorgeous coffee table.
Pauline shared her idea in a popular Kmart Hacks group on Facebook last month, explaining how she used the department store’s open weave laundry hamper, took out the removable liner, and added the $8 wooden serving platter on top.
