This year, King Charles paid tribute to his Queen Elizabeth as he hosted his annual pre-Christmas lunch on Friday, December 20 at Buckingham Palace instead of Windsor Castle for the first time–a tradition that the late monarch upheld throughout her long reign. There were several major royals missing from the private family luncheon–Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their children had already made the trip 100 miles away to Norfolk for the holidays, and Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson bowed out amidst the disgraced royal’s latest scandal–but it was also an opportunity for King Charles and Queen Camilla to mingle with extended members of the royal family. Royal fans also got rare appearances from several royals, including Queen Elizabeth’s hot grandnephew Samuel Chatto, who reemerged for the family outing.

The fan-favorite royal and his younger brother Arthur Chatto isn’t a working royal, meaning that public appearances of the pair are few and far between since they don’t typically attend royal engagements and other official events. However, royal watchers got a rare glimpse of Chatto wearing a gray and yellow scarf, a maroon tie, a white dress shirt, and a dark coat as he took a car to the luncheon on Friday.

Chatto last made an appearance with the royal family for their annual highly-photographed Christmas Day walk from Sandringham House to St. Mary Magdalene Church, as well as Kate Middleton’s 2023 Together at Christmas carol service. He was also in attendance at major family gatherings like Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, as well as King Charles’s coronation.
