Baffling find in Kmart delivery leaves shoppers 'livid'

Shoppers have been left seriously unimpressed with retailer Kmart after a series of photos of their home delivery packaging turned heads for all the wrong reasons.

In a post that’s since gone viral online, a mum shared a series of snaps of the packaging that came with her Kmart order.

A large cardboard box was the first snap. Inoffensive, it sat on the carpet – a box like any other.

In the next snap, she threw open the box’s lid to reveal the inside bursting with inflatable plastic packaging.

Kmart sells everything from crockery to crocs so again, nothing unusual in stuffing some protective layers in there. You might even think to yourself, what remarkable delivery service.

It was when she emptied the box of the stuffing to reveal the products she had ordered that things began to go pear-shaped for the otherwise beloved budget store.

No, there was no 16-piece dining set, nor a small fan, not even a kitchen bin and assorted bits and bobs.

There, hiding in the corner, naked and afraid, as sensitive as an exposed nerve was one, single bath bomb.

Nope, not a 3-pack or a jumbo-sized bomb.

Just one, Bath Fizzer Party, Soda Pop flavoured.

Party by name, but sadly not party by nature, the bath bomb weighed it at 100 grams and retailed for a grand total of $2.95 and a year or so of the planet’s life if the reaction online was anything to go by.

Fury online over ‘wasteful’ packaging

The woman who received the package saw the humour in the extremely unsustainable delivery packaging.

“So glad my bath bomb arrived safe and sound,” she joked alongside the series of snaps.

Others weren’t as compelled by the humour.

“What a bloody waste,” one person wrote.

“OMG That is ridiculous,” wrote one lady. “Certainly not trying to be sustainable at all. So much unnecessary plastic and cardboard used. At least the box can be recycled.”

Others did see the funny side, though they too agreed the Kmart packers could do with a word of warning and some restraint.

“You can never be too safe,” one person wrote.

“That’s hilarious,” another agreed.

“Hahaha so funny but such a waste of plastic!!” one person who saw both sides wrote. “That’s so bad.”
