If you've ever been rudely awakened in the middle of the night by your suctioned shower caddy slowly giving up on life and catapulting off the tiled walls to a crash landing on the shower floor, sending your razors, body wash, and shampoo and conditioner flying, you're not alone. What starts as a mildly terrifying event leads to great annoyance, even for the most patient of us in rental homes.

Is it that hard to find a semi-permanent but affordable solution to house our shower products that don't break within a couple of months? Apparently.

However thankfully for those of us who have suffered the above issue, a bunch of helpful Aussies in a retail shopping group for Kmart, Target, Aldi, Bunnings, and other Aussie stores have shared their solutions that are budget-friendly and more reliable than any of your Hinge matches.

One user posted their frustration at their suction shower caddy, saying, "How to stick those bl**dy suction caddies on your shower wall? I might get them to stay up for a few weeks then BAM on the floor again giving us a heart attack in the middle of the night. It’s a rental, so nothing can be drilled into the wall, so I’m stuck with using suction cups.

Thankfully a whole bunch of people came to their rescue with solutions, so we've rounded up some of the best for you.

A lot of people in the Facebook group shouted out Bunnings' shower caddies, particularly the ones from the Fusion-loc range.

"Get the fusion-loc from Bunnings! They’re awesome! I have one that's been holding 1 litre bottles of shampoo and conditioner and hasn’t moved in six months," one person said. "These are the only ones I’ve found that work. I’ve had mine in the shower for four years now and they haven’t budged," another agreed.

"Buy the ones in Bunnings. They have air suction ones that can be removed when you leave the rental," another said. "I’ve had them for at least three years and they do not move once air suctioned on."

Some users also shouted out the very budget-friendly Ikea shower caddy.

"I use this one from Ikea - holds very well on the mirror. Haven’t fallen so far. I’ve been storing large candles in there," one fan said. "Make sure the wall is clean before you stick it on. They have a corner wall version too, haven’t used it though."

While this Aldi shower caddy is a special buys offer, one user posted a glowing review about it.

"I’ve tried them all – suction caps don’t work and anything metal, eventually rusts…so, I bought an amazing Perspex one from Aldi," they sad. "Hooks over the top of glass shower screen and it is easy to clean – stays in place and no rust to worry about. They were on sale about a month ago- maybe on sale twice a year."

Many others were fans of the type of shower caddies that just simply hang over the top of the shower, meaning you never have to worry about suction, with the $15 Kmart one getting a lot of praise.

(Also I can personally say this is the one I'm now using, and it does the job, except if you have a narrow shower like I do you may occasionally bump into it from all angles while you're turning around like a rotisserie chicken and wondering how long it's possible to stay in the shower ruminating on your life choices before your housemate gets concerned.)

Very similar to the Kmart one, another shopper also shouted out the Woolworths edition.

"I’ve found no issue with this one and I’ve had it for over a year. I don’t even use the wire hooks just the suction cups. Plus it carries a good amount of weight," they posted.
