Kim Kardashian is seemingly not afraid to try anything once, when it comes to anti-aging.

(She did say she would "eat poop" if it meant looking younger.)

On the July 11 episode of The Kardashians, Kardashian revealed to her mom, Kris Jenner, while the family was shooting their promos for the current season of the Hulu show that she tried yet another anti-aging treatment.

"I got a salmon sperm facial with salmon sperm injected into my face," Kardashian, 43, casually shares.

While Kardashian didn't divulge whether or not she felt the salmon sperm facial did anything for her, another celeb who tried out the trend recently did: Jennifer Aniston.

In the WSJ. Magazine Fall Women’s Fashion issue in August 2023, Aniston shared that an aesthetician put her onto the salmon sperm facials, too.

"First of all, I said, ‘Are you serious? How do you get salmon’s sperm?’ ” she told the outlet, before saying she wasn't sure it actually did anything for her skin.

Though a salmon sperm facial sounds out there, it's not a new fad. "Salmon [semen] has been shown to improve skin, hydration, plumpness, texture, and wrinkles. The effects on the skin are thought to be due to high DNA levels. DNA is composed of amino acids, which have long been used in skin care for their hydrating and cell-renewing benefits," New York City-based dermatologist Joshua Zeichner, MD, told PS last August after Aniston's beauty routine made headlines.

Kardashian's treatment of getting the sperm injected was right on the money, as that's the most effective way to see results. Typically these facials are done as microneedling treatments so that the sperm (often a serum) can truly penetrate the skin.

However, there is still very little research on using salmon sperm in skincare, so it's always recommended to speak to your own dermatologist or aesthetician at length before trying it out for yourself.
