Keri Russell Reveals Why Husband Matthew Rhys Skipped the 2025 Golden Globes
The actress, 48, is nominated for best actress in a drama series at this year's awards ceremony
Keri Russell arrived at the 2025 Golden Globes solo.
On Sunday, Jan. 5, The Diplomat star, 48, made her entrance on the red carpet and explained why she wasn't accompanied by her husband Matthew Rhys during an interview with Entertainment Tonight and Variety.
"I flew in from a family trip. It’s just so fun to be here," she shared, before revealing why her husband wasn't with her. "He flew the kids home for me. But I just got to talk to Gary Oldman who is like, his idol and he said, ‘Send Matthew my love.’ So I just texted him that right now and he was pumped."

Russell added, "I got to meet Kathy Bates, who is sort of my person. That’s what’s really fun about the Globes."
At this year's award ceremony, Russell is nominated for best actress in a drama for her performance as Kate Wyer in season two of The Diplomat. The nod is her fifth Golden Globe nomination, and she was nominated in the same category for season 1 in 2024.
The second installment of the hit series followed Russell and Rufus Sewell as politics' most complicated couple, Kate (Russell) and Hal Wyler (Sewell).
Fans of the series saw them continue to navigate a treacherous global power balance from the U.K. amid their ongoing relationship troubles. This season Allison Janney also joined the cast, which Russell said "really complicates the mix of it all."
"She's everything you want her to be," she said of working with Janney. "She's gracious and funny and smart and cool."
In addition to Russell, both Janney and the series were also nominated at this year's Golden Globes.
