Yahoo Lifestyle Kelly Ripa Begs Mark Consuelos for Details on His Surprise Career News
Mark Consuelos is making his way back to the big screen — and Kelly Ripa is begging for more information about it.
On January 28, Deadline announced Mark would be joining the cast of the upcoming movie Scream 7. The news came just as the actor took some time off from filming Live With Kelly and Mark in mid-January, seemingly inferring he'd been absent to shoot the latest horror comedy in the Scream franchise. Given how the film's premise (and how Mark fits into the story) are being kept under wraps, Kelly decided she'd take it upon herself to get the details when he confirmed the news on the ABC morning show on January 29.
"Mark Consuelos has joined the cast of Scream 7!" Kelly revealed in a clip posted on Instagram. "Is that what you've been doing behind my back?"
"Yes! I had the most amazing time there in Atlanta," Mark responded.
"What can you tell us? Are you the killer?" Kelly continued to press Mark. "You can tell us! You are the killer, right? Do you die?"
"I can tell you absolutely nothing. I can't tell you anything! Don't try to get it out of me. But it's fun."
While Mark was being tight-lipped about his work in Scream 7, he did share some key details about the role.
Mark shared he'll be starring alongside Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox (who starred in the original movie and subsequent sequels), in addition to working with fellow franchise newcomer Joel McHale.He also stated his and Kelly's oldest son Michael (they also share daughter Lola and son Joaquin) was so excited about him getting the job — and apparently he'd been wishing for this for quite some time.
"He was so excited. He said, 'Dad, I manifested this for you.' I said, 'Great — can you keep doing that? Keep doing that!'"
"He came over for dinner last night, and he was just looking at me, and I'm looking at him, and we're smiling at each other," Mark added. "He asked some questions and I go, 'Michael, I can't answer anything. I can't tell you anything.' He goes, 'Uh huh. OK. Got it.' He knows nothing. I'm poker faced."
Naturally, seeing Kelly and Mark's interaction about Mark's part in Scream 7 had people reacting in the comments as well.
"Too funny! My guess is Mark's the killer 😂😂🤍," one person wrote. "I haven't seen a single Scream movie since the first one, but this one I'd watch!" another declared. "Congratulations Mark! Looking forward to watching," a different follower added.
Well, this has us totally intrigued... and we may just scream when we get more info about it!
