Kelly Clarkson ‘Offended’ by Unsolicited Comment About Brooke Shields’ Looks: ‘What Is Wrong With People’
Kelly Clarkson is coming to Brooke Shields' defense after the actress shared a story about a social media user who criticized her looks.
"I was doing an Instagram Live the other day and I got one of the little notes that said, 'Wow! I wish you looked like the way you used to look,'" Shields, 59, began during the Wednesday, Jan. 15, episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

"You wish you ever looked that good, b---h!" Clarkson, 42, said in a hypothetical response to the Instagram troll.
"I was like, 'Read the title of my book,'" Shields continued, referencing her memoir, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman. "I go, 'Do you understand what you're doing culturally?'"
"What is wrong with people?" Clarkson questioned.
Though Shields noted that she was "not offended" by the reckless comment made by the Instagram user, Clarkson blurted out, "I am!" which earned the daytime talk show host a round of laughter from the audience.
Fans were quick to flood the comments section with supportive remarks, with one person writing, "Just look at Brooke, she’s timelessly beautiful. I’m so glad she reaches out to people like she does, that shows she’s beautiful inside, enhancing her outer beauty even more, she’s radiant!"
Another said, "Love them both so much! Great conversation."
Shields' new memoir, which hit bookshelves on Jan. 14, explores her life growing up in the public eye and the beauty standards in the entertainment industry.
“It’s important to understand where you’ve been, but I think it’s really joyous to say, ‘I may not know where I’m going, but I’m here. This is a different age than it used to be,'” she explained during an appearance on Good Morning America earlier this week.
“And yeah, I want to look my best, and I want to be healthy. Again, I always say, ‘I wish things were a little higher and tighter,'” she added. “But by the same token, I’ve earned everything I have on my face. It’s important to pat yourself on the back and say, ‘What do you want to do now?' You’re no longer tied to biology in the same way.”
