As Kate Middleton prepares to become queen, her priorities will remain on her and Prince William's three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. But according to a new royal book,Yes Ma'am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants by Tom Quinn, William has the tendency to act like a fourth child to Middleton, due to her non-royal upbringings.
The Times shared an excerpt from the book and noted that the future king is known to get moody when things don't go according to his plans. “I don’t know where William would be without Kate—she hasn’t had everything done for her throughout her life, so she calms him down when he gets a bit fractious," a former staff member of the Prince and Princess of Wales said. "She said he sometimes has to be treated as her fourth child.”

Although William grew up with the benefits that come with being royal, there were things he still didn't receive as a child in terms of affection from his father, King Charles. “Kate had to explain many of the things that parents outside the royal family do with their children as a matter of course—she had to show him how to give the children a piggyback, for example," a staffer continued. "William said very quietly, ‘My father never gave me a piggyback.’”

Middleton doesn't have to parent William all the time, though. Quinn further reported that Middleton "enjoys ribbing" William about the drama in his family, notably teasing him about Queen Camilla being descended from Edward VII’s "favorite mistress." William doesn't take the comments lying down, either—“Before Kate realized that as a senior royal you have to dress carefully, having taken advice, she once bought an outfit that William considered inappropriate. He told Kate she looked as if she’d just run through a charity shop covered in superglue. Everyone thought this was very funny, including, to her credit, Kate."
