Kate Middleton has made her first public appearance of 2024 and, unsurprisingly, it included a very fashion-forward ensemble. On Saturday, June 15, Middleton attended the Trooping the Colour ceremony, marking her first royal outing in six months, so naturally, the princess made a splash for her big return.

The royal rode in the famous parade on her way to the Buckingham Palace balcony in a chic black and white dress with a large ribbon detail and belted waistline by British designer Jenny Packham, one of her favorite designers. She donned a matching wide-brimmed hat by Philip Treacy, which revealed her elegant braided updo below. She finished off the look with the Cassandra Goad Cavolfiore Pearl Stud Earrings, her Irish Guards Regimental Brooch and a pair of white pumps.

During last year's event, Middleton opted for a regal bright green coat dress with ornate buttons, which she styled with a matching wide-brimmed hat. She attended the celebrations alongside her family, including husband Prince William and kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Middleton's last public event took place on Christmas Day, in December 2023, before she underwent abdominal surgery in January. In March, the princess announced she was battling cancer and receiving treatment in an emotional video shared to social media. Since then, Middleton has remained out of the public eye so she could focus on her recovery.

Ahead of the weekend's festivities, the Princess of Wales shared a new photo of herself and gave fans an update on her health, noting that she has had "good days and bad days" during her treatment. "I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days," she wrote. "On those bad days you feel weak, tired, and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well."

"My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months," she continued. "On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home."

The princess also revealed that she would be attending the Trooping the Colour ceremony in honor King Charles's birthday. "I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet," she said.
