Kate Middleton ‘caught off-guard’ by Rami Malek’s personal question

If you ever get the chance to have a conversation with Kate Middleton, it’s only natural that you’d want to make it a memorable one.

Rami Malek claims to have done just that when he caught the Duchess of Cambridge ‘off-guard’ with a very personal question about her family.

Joining Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, the Oscar-winning actor spoke about his recent encounter with Kate at last week’s London premiere of No Time To Die and how he had “some familiarity” with her from the 2019 BAFTA Awards.

Rami opened up about their initial meeting two years ago and remarked that it was “fascinating” how she and Prince William already knew so much about him.

“You could see they’ve done their homework,” he said. “I just looked at Princess Kate at one point and I said, ‘This must be exhausting’.”

“She said ‘Why’ and I said, ‘You just had a baby, right?’. And I think she was taken aback and she said, ‘How are you doing?’ and I said, ‘No, how are you?’.”

The 40-year-old went on to say that the Duchess, who had given birth to her and Prince William’s third child, Prince Louis, 10 months ago, was very surprised with how their conversation continued.

“In the most regal elegant way she gave me a look, but you could tell. Imagine you’re dressed to the nines, have to talk to all these actors,” he continued.

“It was so cool because I think I caught her off-guard for a second. And [she] had that look of, in the most elegant, professional, royal way, ‘Yes, it's a lot having a kid’.

“The funniest thing about that was I said, ‘If you ever need a day off, some time off, I'm backup for you... I can babysit, you guys go out, have a good time’.”

Rami's interview comes a week after Kate Middleton turned heads in a plunging sequin gown at the world premiere for the latest James Bond film, which was held at the Royal Albert Hall.

Daniel Craig was reportedly stunned when he saw the Duchess, telling her, “You look jolly lovely!”.

No Time To Die, which is Daniel Craig’s last appearance as Agent 007, is set to be released in Australian theatres on November 11.
