Karl Stefanovic's son breaks silence on TV star's marriage breakdown

Karl Stefanovic’s son, Jackson, has broken his silence, throwing support behind his mother, Cassandra Thorburn.

The 19-year-old shared his hurt at how his parents’ divorce played out in the public, but praised his mum for being an “extraordinary person”.

“My mother is the most extraordinary person, and what she has weathered in these past few years, no one deserves the backlash,” he told Woman’s Day in a recent interview.

Jackson also added he knew he needed “protect” his mother, in the aftermath of her split from Karl.

When discussing his father’s decision to separate from his mother, the teen simply stated, “What’s done is done.”

However, the teen acknowledged the former Today presenter was still his father.

“I’ll leave it there for now – who knows what happens next,” he added.

Jackson attended Karl’s wedding to Jasmine Yarbrough in Mexico at the end of last year, despite multiple reports claiming he would be missing the nuptials due to growing tensions over the 44-year-old’s divorce from Cassandra.

He joined his younger siblings, Ava and River, along with other members of the family for the wedding, although it was reported Jackson missed Karl and Jasmine’s ‘commitment ceremony’ in March last year.

Karl and Cass – who is currently a contestant on Dancing With The Stars – were married for 21 years.
