Karl Stefanovic's daughter on his bitter divorce from Cassandra Thorburn

The 18-year-old revealed the pair haven’t been in the same room together for years.

They split up seven years ago in one of the most controversial break-ups in Australian television, and now Today show host Karl Stefanovic and Cassandra Thorburn’s daughter, Willow, has revealed the pair haven’t been in the same room together for years.

In a candid interview with Woman’s Day, the 18-year-old, who is moving to London to study fashion journalism and content creation, said while her parents aren’t on speaking terms, she hopes they’ve ‘made peace’ by the time she walks down the aisle or turns 21.

"That's something I've always wanted – to bring them together for special occasions, but I've had to distance myself from it because at the end of the day it's not my issue," she told the publication.

"It's their business if they choose not to be friendly – of course I wish it wasn't like this, but I won't be forcing them. I hope one day we can all be together again.

Karl and Cassandra split up in 2016 after almost 21 years of marriage, with the now 48-year-old Today show presenter moving on with his now 39-year-old wife, Jasmine Stefanovic.

Cassandra told the Australian Woman’s Weekly in 2018 that she didn’t see herself ever being friends with her ex.

“He really is dead to me and no, we won’t ever be friends again,” she told the publication. “There has been practically no contact. I feel like we’ve been discarded and disposed of, replaced by a whole new line-up of starters.”

The presenter hit back at his ex-wife in a statement, telling The Daily Telegraph: “First and foremost, I’m a dad… and I’m not going anywhere. I love my kids”.

“I don’t want my silence, or the fact that my children aren’t visibly front and centre with me for everyone to see, to be misinterpreted as absence. That couldn’t be further from the truth.”

In an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly. Cassandra opened up about the impact the breakup had on her and the three children she shares with her ex, Jackson, Willow, and River.

“Last year, I declared that Karl really was dead to me, a man I no longer know, but the children still have their father,” she told

“The flip-side of that is I feel like we’re dead to his family and almost anyone from our old life."
