The moment Karl Stefanovic tears up on TV
He’s the former ‘King of Daytime TV’ who lost his crown last year when he was dumped from the Today show, but now Karl Stefanovic is back on our screens.
The 44-year-old - who found out in December, while on his honeymoon with new wife, Jasmine Yarbrough, that he wouldn’t be required back on the Today couch - is set to host This Time Next Year.
And in a trailer for the second series of the show, Karl can be seen tearing up as the guests share their inspirational stories.
The dad-of-three is seen at one stage chatting with a woman who came on to the stage in a wheelchair, and it’s obvious her story has touched the TV star.
“They told me they didn’t think I’d ever walk again. I just said 'no, no, this isn't how my story ends,” the woman can be heard saying, while Karl tries not to cry.
Another man sharing his story can be heard saying: “Who could love half a man?”, and when the camera shifts to his wife, she says: “ Me.”
Karl can be seen pursing his lips as the emotion of their story gets to him.
The former chat show host has had his own challenges in the past couple of years, weathering strong criticism after he split with his wife of more than 20 years, Cassandra Thorburn, just two years ago.
Karl went on to find love with 34-year-old Jasmine Yarbrough, with the pair marrying in a lavish wedding in Mexico in December.
All seemed peachy in the Stefanovic clan, until just days later when Karl’s brother, Peter Stefanovic, confirmed that he was leaving Channel Nine after 15 years with the network.
Peter had been fronting Weekend Today and some 60 Minutes segments.
Just days later, Karl was also dumped from the show, with his sister-in-law and Peter’s wife, Sylvia Jeffreys following them both out the door just before Christmas.
