On Thursday, Peacock released a trailer for Season 2 of Cuoco and Chris Messina’s Peacock comedy Based on a True Story, which premieres on Thursday, Nov. 21. In it, Ava is seen obsessing over a murderer — who might be Matt (aka her sister’s new boyfriend)? — while raising her new baby.

The eight-episode second season picks up with Ava and Nathan Bartlett (Messina), three months into parenthood. Ava returns to work as a real estate agent, while Nathan is thriving as a private tennis coach.

But the good times don’t last for long, as a new string of murders sucks Ava back into her old obsession. Despite pointing the finger at Matt (Tom Bateman), Ava does her best not to jump to conclusions “until danger comes knocking, literally,” according to Peacock.

Based on a True Story also stars Liana Liberato as Tory, featuring Melissa Fumero as Ava’s new friend Drew. Cuoco and Messina also executive-produce, alongside new showrunner Annie Weisman, Jaclyn Moore, Alex Buono, Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and Craig Rosenberg.

“I first discovered Based on a True Story as a fan of Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina, and I instantly loved the show’s addictive blend of dark humor, pulpy action, and relatable characters,” Weisman says in a statement. “In Season 2, we’ve built on those exciting themes while introducing propulsive new character dynamics and a forward-moving murder mystery.”
