Johnny Gaudreau’s wife Meredith Gaudreau is highlighting the late NHL star’s “inseparable” bond with his brother Matthew after they were killed in a bike crash — and asking Matthew to “take care of” her late husband.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, weeks after the brothers were killed while biking in New Jersey, Meredith shared throwback footage of a portion of Matthew’s speech from her and Johnny’s September 2021 wedding.

The clip began with Matthew thanking the then-newlyweds’ parents for “putting together such a beautiful wedding” before opening up about his close bond with his brother.

“John and myself have been inseparable our whole lives,” he began, as the video cut between his speech and Johnny beaming beside Meredith as they watched him address their guests.

Matthew continued, “Any time you saw me, John was right beside. Any time you saw John, I was following along behind him.”

“When we got older and we weren’t together because of hockey, we still took care of each other,” he added before the clip ended.

In the caption, Meredith added a message to her late brother-in-law asking him to continue to "take care" of her husband in death.

“Take care of John for me Matty 🖤🤍 love & miss you both,” she wrote. “Give John a big kiss from me 😘😘😘.”

The 11-year NHL veteran, 31, and his brother, 29, died after an alleged drunk driver crashed into them near their hometown of Salem County, New Jersey on Thursday, Aug. 29, the night before their sister’s wedding.

Since their sudden deaths, Meredith, as well as Matthew’s widow, Madeline, have shared several posts mourning the loss of their husbands.

Both women are also currently pregnant, Madeline with her and Matthew’s first child and Meredith with her and Johnny’s third baby. Meredith announced the news at the brothers’ memorial service earlier this month.

One of Meredith and Johnny’s two kids, daughter Noa, will soon turn 2, which is posing to be difficult for the widow, she recently shared on social media.

Alongside throwback footage of her late husband, which she shared on Friday, Sept. 20, Meredith wrote that she's "having a hard time" as Noa’s milestone approaches.

"She loves watching videos of daddy before bed especially her requests for 'daddy hockey' which led me to these videos," she wrote of the toddler. "She loves watching him play and cheering for him through the screen. His biggest fan."

Noa and her dad "loved each other so much,” Meredith said, adding that the 1-year-old "even has the same freckle as him on her right cheek.”

“And as she approaches turning 2 I have been told their personalities are getting to be more and more similar ❤️ and I can’t wait for that to continue," she concluded.
