On Oct. 4, 2022, after 14 years of marriage, Tia announced that she and Cory were calling it quits. The childhood star cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reasoning for their split. Their divorce was finalized in April 2023.

"I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family, and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives," she wrote on Instagram.

Since the two went public with their divorce, they've had an awkward run-in with each other on the red carpet, dealt with cheating rumors, and with fans urging them to reconcile.

But Tia has remained as honest as she can about her decision to end the marriage, admitting that she finally chose to focus on her own happiness.

"I knew when I really started to focus on my happiness," Tia told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager about when she knew it was time to part ways with him. "I feel like as women we tend to focus on everyone else's happiness and making sure everyone else is okay."

Despite their union ending, Tia still considers it a "success." She went on to say, "My marriage was a success. I look at it as a curriculum, like you're in college or high school. You're learning. You're growing. You're evolving. You're creating. And I was able to create, with Cory, some beautiful, amazing children."

The conversation around their divorce continued in the latest episode of Tia's new reality series, Tia Mowry: My Next Act. In a clip that has since gone viral on X (formerly known as Twitter), Tia is seen having a vulnerable conversation with her Sister, Sister costar and ex-TV mom, Jackée Harry about things that led to the demise of her relationship.

The clip began with Tia recalling a conversation she previously had where Jackée told her that "you can't have everything all at once." Tears quickly began to fall from Tia's eyes. Jackée stated that she once "had it all" — "the house, the kid, the money" — in her career...for three years to be exact, but "then it all went to shit."

"I had it all, but you can't have it all, all the time. Somebody's gotta stay home with the kids or nurture the ego of the man. Do I sound bitter?" Jackée jokingly asked.

Tia revealed that when she was initially having that conversation with Jackée, she was already having questions about her marriage. Jackée didn't know that about Tia but she did know Cory was also contemplating certain things within their marriage as well.

Tia did not provide a timeframe for when this conversation first took place.

"I did know from the other side," Jackée added. "If I might say, somebody else was dissatisfied because they weren't working. If one partner makes more money or is more successful...it's a gap that's so hard, and it can't work out."

"It can't have competition. It just does not work. You can't stop your career because you want to even it out. I like him. I don't dislike him, so I want to put that out there, but I already told him, 'I'm on Tia's side.' You gotta choose sides when there's a divorce. I don't want him to feel bad."
