Johanna Griggs’ shock House Rules replacement revealed

Two months after Johanna Griggs announced her intention to leave House Rules, the popular presenter’s replacement is rumoured to have been revealed.

The news of her resignation largely came as a shock for fans at the time, as the former swimmer has been at the show’s helm since its debut seven seasons ago.

But now, a familiar face is ready to take on the new challenge, with TV Blackbox reporting judge Jamie Durie will move into Joh’s shoes as host.

Interior designer, Carolyn Burns-McCrave, as well as Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, are expected to stick around for season eight, with the new line-up said to be announced later this month at Seven’s UPFRONTS.

Although the network has remained tight-lipped on the casting update, Joh was quick to offer her support on Twitter.

“If your mail is right (which I’ve no doubt it is) he’ll do a fabulous job,” she wrote in reference to the article.

Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Channel 7 for comment.

TV Blackbox went on to explain Jamie’s proposed promotion was a ‘natural progression’ for the star and would act as a way to renew the audience’s interest after previous casting shake-ups last season.

Taking a step back

But continuity seems to be a tall order for the program, with fellow judge Wendy Moore announcing her House Rules departure just last week.

"It's always sad to see the end of such a great experience, I guess you could call this the #sevenyearitch," she wrote on Instagram.

Joh’s own resignation from the popular renovation show sent shockwaves through its fanbase—and came just days after Masterchef’s three judges also decided to step down.

“After a great deal of consideration, I recently sat down with the Network to ask to be allowed to step down as Host of House Rules,” she shared in an emotional post, adding that the network ‘graciously’ agreed.

The mother-of-two also hosts Better Homes and Gardens, and was eager to imply maintaining that gig was a primary reason behind her decision.

“My role as host of Better Homes and Gardens, which everyone knows I’m crazy about, keeps me very busy,” she wrote, adding her decision would allow her to balance that commitment.
