Joe Buck’s Wife Michelle Undergoes Surgery After He ‘Accidentally Drove a Golf Ball’ into Her Ankle
The ESPN commentator apologized profusely after he "severely damaged" his wife's tibial nerve
Joe Buck is lending his support as his wife Michelle Beisner-Buck recovers from a “freak accident.”
In a video shared to her Instagram account on Wednesday, Sept. 11, Beisner-Buck, 47, allowed her husband, 55, to explain where the two were headed as they sat in a car together.
“The day, July 7, the location, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico,” Buck, a sports commentator for ESPN, began in the roughly three-minute clip.
He said he had a work trip he was preparing for, but since their kids were taken care of, the couple decided to have a quick getaway and play a bit of golf.
“We did,” a smiling Beisner-Buck added as her husband panned the camera to her sitting in the passenger seat.

Their plan was to finish up their game of golf at the 10th hole, and then grab a bite to eat. However, “Michelle [who] has been known to do headstands during the course of our courtship and marriage,” happened to be doing a handstand “at the exact moment” that Buck was teeing off.
The former cheerleader turned ESPN reporter also explained the situation in the social media clip’s caption.
“Shattered ankle down to the joint. Six weeks in a hard cast and the bones are healing nicely,” Beisner-Buck wrote. “But, the 🍒 on top is that the impact of the ball (one helluva drive, babe) also severely damaged my tibial nerve.”

She added that she didn’t have much luck with “nerve blocks and lidocaine infusions,” so their next course of action was to go “under the knife to decompress the nerve in the hopes it speeds up my recovery.”
In the video, a seemingly apologetic Buck called it a “total freak accident” as they waited for her surgery to begin.
Beisner-Buck added that it would be near impossible for anyone to recreate the moment: “If you were having a competition, you would never ever be able to do it. This was like God or the universe just directed this ball right into my ankle bone.”
She then showed off her foot brace, explaining that before that, she previously “did six weeks in a hard cast.”
“Needless to say my guilt is off the charts. I wake up still in the middle of the night hearing that sound, and it makes me sick,” Buck said in the video. “I love this woman. All I wanna do is protect this woman, and I hurt her with a golf ball. It’s pretty sick, and I feel terrible.”
As Beisner-Buck said beside him, she reminded him that it wasn’t his fault.
“I just can’t wait to get back on my two HEALTHY feet. I cannot wait to run around with my kids. I cannot wait to get back to work. I cannot wait to drive. To dance. To do 🤸♀️. To….All of it. I CAN’T WAIT!!!!” her Instagram caption concluded.
