It’s been a tough year for Jimmy Kimmel, who in October made an earnest plea to American voters not to vote for Donald Trump, only for Trump to win by a decisive margin a week later. For his last show of the fall season, Kimmel had little hope that 2025 would be any better.

“You know, I’ve been thinking, we know next year’s going to be challenging. We’re bound to endure a lot of thug, gaslighting, greed, lying, ignorance,” Kimmel said.

“Possibly even the measles and the mumps,” said Kimmel, referring to Trump’s controversial appointment of anti-vaxxer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as health secretary.

Kimmel tried to stay positive, however. He argued that the apparent bleakness of next year is a good reason to make the most of the current one.

“So, let’s fill this Christmas with generosity and goodness,” he said. “Let’s be nice to our friends, let strangers get ahead of us in traffic, maybe spend a little extra time with our kids, give our spouses a back rub… Let’s deck those halls and lube up those chimneys because Santa’s coming to town—and he might not be coming back ever again!"

Kimmel also poked fun at Time magazine’s pick of Donald Trump for their annual Person of the Year award.

“According to the Time website, the Person of the Year is bestowed upon ‘a person, group, or concept that had the biggest impact – for good or for ill," Kimmel said. “Which... that’s him alright! It was a no-brainer in every sense of the word.”

Kimmel used the Time award to reference Stormy Daniels' famous testimony at Trump’s hush-money trial, where she described in detail her sexual experience with the president-elect.

“That’s the cover,” Kimmel said. “Sadly, there’s no one left to roll it up and spank him with it.”

Kimmel added, “Maybe Elon will do it for him! I don’t know.”
