Jimmy Barnes's heartbreaking update after cancelling concert: 'Not allowed far from home'
Jimmy Barnes underwent surgery last month after feeling 'unbearable' pain in his hip.
Jimmy Barnes has taken to Instagram to update his fans following another health scare last month. The singer, 68, shared a video on Friday saying he's sad to miss out on performing at the Stranded in the Maldives festival as he's "not allowed far from home" at the moment.
"Sorry that I can't be with everybody on the Maldives this next coming week," he began the video. "My family are all en route to the Maldives as we speak, joining [Ian Moss] and [Troy Cassar-Daley] and [Kate Ceberano], and they're going to have Jon Stevens there, all my family, David [Campbell], everybody, Mahalia singing for you. It'll be really great – I've got a bit of FOMO actually that I'm not there."

He continued, "If I wasn't still tethered to a drip – I'm on a drip 24 hours a day – I would be there swimming in the sea and singing songs on the beach for you, but in the meantime I'm having a party by myself."
Jimmy's friends and followers shared well wishes for the rock star, with Troy writing, "Sending healing love mate miss you and Jane x."
"You will be back with them before you know it Jimmy," one user said.
"You will be missed, but you’re doing the right thing. Rest up," another said.
"Always listen to the Dr's orders and you will be back to your best soon," a third added.
"Take it easy Jimmy, we need you back to tip top health," someone else said.
'Unbearable' pain
Last month, while in New Zealand, Jimmy was forced to cancel several tour dates when he felt "unbearable" pain in his hip.
He took to Instagram and told his fans, "I’ve got some bad news unfortunately. I had a twinge in my hip when I was leaving Dunedin on Thursday morning and by late last night the pain was unbearable so I went off to hospital.
"The doctors have recommended a remedial medical procedure ASAP followed by some physio to address the issue. These doctors don’t muck around! Providing all goes to plan, I’m expected to make a full recovery in six weeks."

He shared that some concert dates would need to be rescheduled, adding, "As you know, I hate to let anyone down, but I’m also never going to compromise the quality of my gigs. I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause everyone – I HATE moving shows! - but thank you for understanding."
It came after Jimmy was forced to undergo open heart surgery for a life-threatening bacterial infection last year.
Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and doctors were able to replace the damaged valves.
