Yahoo Lifestyle Jenna Ortega’s Vivienne Westwood Gothic Tulle Gown Is Giving Wednesday Addams Vibes
It feels like forever ago that Netflix’s Wednesday dropped on screens and delighted audiences—us included. And while a release date for the second season still hasn’t been confirmed (*sigh*), we’re pleased to report Jenna Ortega is back in the spotlight.
The actor kicked off the press tour for her new film, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, in Mexico City last night (August 13), wowing in her and Wednesday Addams-shared trademark gothic style in the process. Seriously, from her preppy patchwork suit to her black transparent Dior look, Jenna has repped m-a-n-y Wednesday Addams-inspired ‘fits, and we’re obsessed.
But back to her latest look: a tulle nude Vivienne Westwood design featuring a draped neckline, off-the-shoulder knotted straps, and an asymmetric voluminous tutu-esque skirt. The nude mesh dress was decorated all over with black PVC lace embroidery in a swirl pattern. Ngl, this *might* just make the most perfect prom dress for Wednesday. 👀
While the dress isn’t quite obvious enough to be considered method dressing (à la Blake Lively’s stream of floral outfits for It Ends With Us), it’s no less a fitting choice for Jenna, who stars as Astrid Deetz—daughter of Winona Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz, the heroine from the original film—in the spooky horror movie, which is a sequel to the 1988 classic.
The dress is actually vintage Westwood, pulled from the designer’s archives—specifically the spring/summer 2009 ‘Do It Yourself’ collection. When it was shown on the runway, it was a full-length garment complete with a floor-sweeping underlayer. However, that part was removed for Jenna, which, given her petite 5’1” height, was a great call from her stylist, IMO.
We can’t wait to see what else Jenna has planned for her tourdrobe.
